What is SwiftUI

Here at Andeanie, we make apps for the Apple platform using SwiftUI.

This coding language was launched by Apple in September 2019, so it is still in its infancy.

In Apple’s own words, “Swift is a powerful and intuitive programming language for macOS, iOS, watchOS, tvOS and beyond. Writing Swift code is interactive and fun, the syntax is concise yet expressive, and Swift includes modern features developers love. Swift code is safe by design, yet also produces software that runs lightning-fast.”

Apple have purposely put a lot of effort into this language, and it is widely though that if the trend continues as it has been, SwiftUI will replace Swift (its predecessor, launched in 2014) in the near future.

One of the best elements of SwiftUI is that, out of  the box, you have access to features and functionality that will already familiar to you as a user of an Apple device. This will make the transition to any new application seamless, and well, swift!

If you want something more than the look and feel of a native Apple application, this can be achieved with SwiftUI – in fact, more and more apps found on Apple’s App store are being built in SwiftUI alone.
